Sony Ericsson hooks up with WiMAX Forum

Adding a little extra juice to WiMAX’s credibility as a global wide-area broadband standard — not to say it needed it — Sony Ericsson joined the technology’s official organization, the WiMAX Forum, late last week. Sadly, no product announcements were made to commemorate the occasion, but the fact that the WiMAX Forum’s press release refers to Sony Ericsson as “a worldwide provider of PC cards” suggests that the company is looking to serve up WiMAX data cards more than it is WiMAX handsets.
