New iPod nano Teardown Reveals Cheaper Parts

An iSuppli teardown reveals that “Apple is trying to widen its profit margins on iPods with CHEAPER COMPONENTS.” The analyst firm estimates that the $150 4GB nano costs Apple less than $60 to make; the $200 8GB model under $83. Some of the savings come from forcing competition among suppliers, including the addition of Intel and Micron who now supply memory. (props to MACNN)
