Man Pays $4.42 Per Month For 1952 Phone

A man named Lloyd Overlock in Bangor, Maine, has been paying AT&T $4.42 EVERY MONTH SINCE 1952 for his old-and-busted rotary-dial landline telephone — a total of nearly $3,000. When his niece recently found out, she called customer service to cancel. The AT&T person offered her a 20 percent discount to keep the lease (indicating that fleecing the elderly is official AT&T policy). His niece declined, went to a local store and bought him a new-hotness phone for $7. But Mr. Overlock’s troubles aren’t over — the local newspaper publish this photo of his telephone with his phone number clearly visible.
