iPhones going to “preorders” at some AT&T stores?

Despite the fact that preorders weren’t accepted for the iPhone — at least not in any official capacity — we’ve been tipped that at least one possibly unscrupulous AT&T location in Little Rock, Arkansas has told campers that they’ve already sold out of units. So if there wasn’t any preorder, where’d they go? To Premier customers who… um, preordered, allegedly. Folks in line were informed that they were more than welcome to come back this evening and pay for the unit they can’t have, at which point they’d be shipped out next week. Something smell fishy here?
