The web site Avsim, which is popular among flight simulator enthusiasts and has existed since 1996, was “destroyed” by a hack attack. Unbelievably, the site owners did their backups between two servers, both of which were wiped out in the hack. The site is/was heavy on participation, with forums, Twitter tweets and other user-generated content, and all that is now gone.
