400,000 Internet Gaming ‘Gold Farmers’ - Report

Researchers at the UK’s Manchester University estimate that some 400,000 PEOPLE WORLDWIDE WORK AS INTERNET GAMING GOLD FARMERS — mostly in China, but also in Romania, Indonesia and Mexico. ‘Gold farmers’ are low-paid, overworked young people who play games like World of Warcraft and Lineage all day in order to earn points and get virtual gold, equipment or skills that can be sold for real money. The Manchester study says gold farming is a multi-hundred million dollar industry. Who knew?
