Well, it’s no GameGun, but we hear this “PlayStation motion controller” thing from Sony is going to be “kind of a big deal.” The SCEA R&D team was kind enough to put together some behind the scenes footage detailing a bit of the genesis of the controller and some of its technical prowess, and according to Sony this should be just enough of a calculated tease to get us excited for TGS in late September. We feel so manipulated. Video is after the break.

Remember that RedneckTechie and his insanely great GameGun idea? Well, he’s back with another “slick” demo video, along with some news for us: he’s putting together a retail version that will be ready by Christmas. The gun will also be compatible with Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and Windows and a plug-and-play device. We’re incredibly short on details, and the pre-order page isn’t live just yet, but if Mr. Redneck can pull this off, we’re gonna fall all over ourselves to nab one no matter what the price is. New vid is after the break.

For T-Mobile USA customers, the FCC slid a couple particularly interesting batches of docs into its vast library in the past week: the Nokia 3710a and a mysterious Motorola. First, the 3710a (pictured) is simply an Americanized version of the 3710 flip introduced a couple months back, offering a 3.2 megapixel cam, Series 40, and a concealed external display in addition to that all-important dose of 3G on T-Mobile’s AWS band. The more interesting item, though, might be this Motorola — as usual Moto has done a terrific job of concealing virtually all useful bits of information about this phone, but we have reason to believe that it could be the Android-powered Morrison since it’s got WiFi on board in addition to 3G, Bluetooth, and the usual RF suspects. With Moto’s big announcement just around the corner, we wouldn’t be surprised.

In cities like New York, where bikers ride right alongside heavy traffic, bike helmets are a must. Trouble is, apparently plenty of riders don’t like wearing them because of vanity — most bike helmets aren’t exactly attractive, if you haven’t noticed. Well, the City of New York’s commissioned Projectfuse helmets — that combine safety with an attempt at decent stylings. The helmets feature a two-fold design, with an inner protective polystyrene, which is then covered with a customizable soft fabric that attaches with straps. No, you cannot buy them yet, and we don’t know anything about pricing or availability yet, but we do know that you can score one for free — yes, free — at various events around the city. Let us know if you snag one!

Sony’s PlayStation 3 already only does everything, so what more could you possibly need? Australians can find out for themselves with the Ultimate Blu-ray Movie Kit. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s really just the PS3 remote and two discs, but at $60 AUD (that’s $51 for US), it’s only one Banjo Paterson / $10 AUD more than what the remote retails on its lonesome. Both bundles include 300 as the first film, so you’re really choosing between 10,000 B.C. and Batman Begins. Not exactly a tough decision unless you already own Batman, but then again, you still might opt for a second copy instead.

Hey, our main dudes over at Joystiq sat down with Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg recently, and there are some great bits of info in the interview. Aaron says the big Xbox price cut has been planned for months, so it’s “just a coincidence” that it happened right on top of the PS3 Slim — and he also says he’s an avid Joystiq reader, so if Redmond had wanted to get the jump on Sony, they’d have been prepared. Other nuggets: the $99 WiFi adapter isn’t coming down in price, the Netflix relationship is going well, and getting Hulu or Amazon Unbox on the 360 is like “asking out a really hot chick on a date, they don’t all say yes.” Yeah, it’s a pretty great interview — hit the read link for the whole thing.

To call the industrial design of Motorola’s new MOTOCUBO A45 “polarizing” might be an understatement, but at least we can all agree that cutting back on a phone’s environmental impact is a good thing, right? The A45 — which we’d previously spied as the Murano — is a pretty run-of-the-mill messaging phone with a 2 megapixel cam, EDGE data, 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio, a “fresh and modern” (their words, not ours) design and color scheme, and built-in access to Orkut, Facebook, and MySpace, but the big news here has to be the eco angle. Like the Renew before it, the MOTOCUBO is made in part from recycled plastic bottles and is 70 percent recyclable when you’ve moved on to bigger, better, stronger phones down the road — but for now, plan on spending R$549 (about $292) unlocked when it hits Brazil next month.

So much for secrecy. South African Xbox 360 distributor Comztek has told local gaming news site XboxGaming.co.za that the a 250GB “Super Elite” model is due there in October. Additionally, the Forza 3 bundle we saw heading to Germany is also en route to SA, retailing for R4,999 (US $646), or around the same price as the Elite before its recent global price cut. South African retailer BT Games has apparently also posted a flier in honor of the launch, offering a R500 discount on the Super Elite with the trade-in of a slimline PlayStation 2. Let’s hope the folks in Redmond have as much of a sense of humor about leaks as Sony does.
