You’re probably using a mouse today, but you may never buy one again. All the planets are aligning against this humble pointing device. Alternative pointing devices are weakening our mouse habit. But the next versions of Windows and the Mac OS will KILL THE MOUSE forever.

A blog published by the UK magazine Computing reports what has got to be the WORST TELEMARKETING CALL EVER: A woman received a call on behalf of Tesco Insurance. A recorded message on the line apologized, and said no one was available to talk to her, and hung up.

If Grand Theft Auto IV feels unwholesome, say hello to The Torture Game 2. This simple, amateurish, free, online title lets you inflict pain and suffering on a bound prisoner using a hand, rope, razor blade, pistol, paintbrush, spikes, shotgun, AK-47 — even a CHAINSAW! There’s zero narrative, and the prisoner’s facial expression never changes. It’s unsophisticated, but just sophisticated enough to cause controversy.

I told you back in August that Japan’s Rare Mono Shop was selling a USB-powered necktie with a built-in cooling fan. Now, they’ve come out with a 2.0 version. The new version is more stylish, more discreet (no more air grate on the knot — it’s now hidden), more controllable (it has an on-off switch) and more portable (you can unplug and run on battery power). I told you back in November about a Japanese cigarette vending machine that uses a face-scanning system called the Child Check System to guess the age of the buyer before processing the purchase. A new report claims that the machine is easily fooled by simply holding up a MAGAZINE PHOTO of an older person.
